Superior Essex Inc. Aligns Its Efforts With United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

May 14, 2021

Atlanta, GA — Superior Essex Inc. is aligning its sustainability efforts with those of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG’s). This alignment will enable Superior Essex, parent company of Essex Furukawa Magnet Wire and Superior Essex Communications brands, to identify common purposes and opportunities for action with other entities, while collaborating to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

Superior Essex has committed to aligning with 12 out of the 17 specific UN Sustainable Development Goals. Aligning with these SDG’s will enable Superior Essex and it’s brands to support a reduction of impact with a much larger global focus. These specific SDG’s (and the actions behind them) will support our brands’ green production, sustainable product, and Essex Furukawa’s specific Vision 2030 goals. The commitments can be viewed by clicking here.

“For Essex Furukawa, a manufacturer on a global scale, we are incredibly excited to align with the UN SDG program,” said Annie Bevan, Global Head of Sustainability for Superior Essex Inc. “First and foremost, the fact that Superior Essex and its divisions of Essex Furukawa and Superior Essex Communications are committed to being pro-active in its efforts to be responsible to the planet is commendable.

“That being said, we are not even close to the finish line, but this commitment — and subsequent actions — does show that the company is looking at a greater good, and our ability to reduce our impact to support the collective whole. In a marketplace not known for being sustainable or thinking about green production methods, Superior Essex and its divisions of Essex Furukawa and Communications are not only aligning with the UN SDG’s but also the environmental and social consciousness of its clients and the planet.”

The UN SDG program was launched in 2015 as part of its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, set forth by the organization, and includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Theses SDG’s are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
