Superior Essex Communications Joins GeSI

February 19, 2020

ATLANTA, GA (February 19, 2020) — Superior Essex Communications announced today that it has joined GeSI, an organization that is focused on enabling digital sustainability.

Becoming a member of GeSI means that Superior Essex Communications is adding its name to a growing number of major information, communication, and technology (ICT) companies and organizations from around the world that are seeking social and environmental sustainability through technology. It has heeded the call to join GeSI in addressing some of the most urgent 21st century challenges and delivering on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Annie Bevan, the Global Head of Sustainability for Superior Essex Communications, said that membership in the GeSI was a long time coming, and that it outwardly displays the support Superior Essex Communications has to sustainability efforts across the globe.

“We are very excited to have officially joined the GeSI,” Bevan said.  “We take great pride in the sustainability efforts that we are making on our own, as manufacturers and suppliers, but believe that operating in a vacuum does not further global gains that need to be made. We want to help innovate, source, and provide the most sustainable products available and GeSI aligns us with those fundamentals.”

Superior Essex Communications is the only cable manufacturer to achieve the Living Product Challenge certification as well as being the only company to offer externally verified EPDs, HPDs and Multi-Attribute Labels for over 55+ product families. Many products are manufactured in a certified Zero Waste to Landfill facility and are designed to help customers reach sustainability goals by contributing to green building certifications like the Living Building Challenge, WELL, and LEED v2009 and v4. Superior Essex also is a leading cable provider supporting Power-over-Ethernet systems that result in energy savings as well as increased productivity and occupant well-being.

“Superior Essex Communications is proud of our leadership position when it comes to sustainability and we view our GeSI membership as a way to continue to not only participate in the discussions around that global vision, but also facilitate and lead some of them,” said Will Bryan, VP of Broadband Sales. “Our official membership is another step in furthering what we believe to be true, that the products which interconnect the world must also respect it.”

GeSI is a globally recognized thought leader, partner of choice and proactive driver of the ICT sustainability agenda as measured by the development and use of its tools, broad member base and contributions to relevant policies. Its vision is to create a sustainable world through responsible, ICT-enabled transformation.

Its members and partners use their collective knowledge and experience to identify opportunities and develop effective solutions in a number of critical areas including: climate change, energy/resource efficiency, e-waste management, responsible supply chain practices, labour rights and public policy.

Luis Neves, Managing Director and CEO of GeSI, said that the organization welcomes a member like Superior Essex Communications with open arms.

“GeSI’s mission is to help create a smarter, more sustainable world with digital solutions at its core,” Neves said. “We are thrilled to have a company like Superior Essex Communications, a leader in its industry sector, join as a Member. Their engagement reinforces GeSI’s work to apply digital solutions from one end of the industry value chain to the other. We look forward to a long partnership with Superior Essex Communications.”
