New FTTP Slack Storage Module (SSM) for use with FTTP Tight Buffered I/O Drop Cable is Available
Superior Essex has introduced an optical fiber closure that stores fiber drop cable slack at the exterior of a residence. This water-tight closure is used for Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) applications that specify an indoor Optical Network Terminal (ONT).
The SSM fiber closure provides storage for up to 50 feet of excess simplex fiber cable and is specially designed for use with Superior Essex tight buffered indoor/outdoor simplex drop cable. When deployed in conjunction with an indoor ONT, the SSM provides substantial cost savings for FTTP installations.
The cable is available in all fiber types including Bend Insensitive single mode fiber and Laser Optimized 50 micron 10G/550 multimode fiber which is OM4 compliant. Both of these fibers are 40/100GB Ethernet ready.
